International project "Funny Fences: Paint fences, erase borders. Nerekhta - town with the greatest quantity of painted fences in the world" has started a year ago. The event was so interesting that the main TV channel came to us and made a short telecast about "Funny Fences” in the news.

Making town a piece of art… unique social and cultural event. 

      Painted fence is a way to make life of Nerekhta’s inhabitants more beautiful and bright. The regional center of the Kostroma Oblast, ancient Nerekhta, in a year becomes number one town in the world by quantity of painted fences.

        First part of an International Volunteer Camp «Funny Fences» in Nerekhta starts this year on July, the 17th. A team of creative and socially active youngsters from all over the world within two weeks will restore and paint in an artistic way fences of Nerekhta. Last year program hosted representatives of Poland, Korea, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Germany and the USA.

      We are not going to stop on painting! There will be numerous cultural events during the program. Workshops, presentations, and master classes for inhabitants and visitors of the town will be organized. Final event of the project will be a large international festival of street art in August, 2012.
